E’ un bell’esempio di tabernacolo funzionale costruito sullo sprone di via dei Federighi con via dei Palchetti come completamento per l’illuminazione del tempo sulla convergenza delle quattro strette strade che formano la piccola piazzetta dove un tempo si accedeva alle scuderie del Palazzo Rucellai.
Da molti anni privo di immagine per la scomparsa nel tempo del primitivo affresco seicentesco è stata collocata una bella crocifissione di impianto pittorico tradizionale che ben si colloca nel tabernacolo e nell’ambiente attorno: ne è autore Rodolfo Russo.
  

This is a beautiful example of a functional tabernacle built on the scarp buttress between Via de’ Federighi and Via de’ Palchetti. It was once used as a lighting for the intersection of the four narrow streets that form the tiny square from where there was once access to the stables of Palazzo Rucellai.
This tabernacle was figureless for many years due to the disappearance of its primitive 17th century fresco. Now the ancient figure has been replaced by a beautiful traditionally painted crucifixion, that well suits the tabernacle and its surroundings. It was painted by Rodolfo Russo.
